Ian "Kid" Simpson…. the Cowperson's banjo player, started his professional career playing music after finishing high school.  He started playing bluegrass music with Jim Fisher (Calamity) and Fred Kunhl (Stan Pede) in the late 70's

At 21 he moved to Sydney to join up with Australian country music legend Slim Dusty, with whom he was involved until the time of Slim's passing. He was also a founding member of the multi- award winning band, The Flying Emus.

He is highly sought after as a session musician and regularly records and performs with the top names in Australian country music.

He also performs in a Perth based traditional bluegrass band,  Bluegrass Parkway as their guitarist.

With the Cowpersons, Ian plays banjo,  sings some lead, and adds his fine baritone to the group's harmony sound.
